Tips on Writing Children’s Books
Children’s book author Lizzy Rockwell gave writing tips to a summer school class of second- through sixth-graders. To write a successful children’s book, she says, you have to pay attention to the following:
- Your approach to the tale has to be logical.
- Think about word length.
- Consider how best to organize the story.
- Help children relate to the book by addressing a common experience.
- Use similes and metaphors to draw children in with beautiful language.
