New Children’s Library at Grail Family Services in San Jose, California

by Hsien-Hsien Lei on September 11th, 2005

Years ago, when I was a sophomore at Stanford University, I was a Big Sister to a grade schooler from a nearby neighborhood. I have fond memories of going to crafts fairs, campus events, and a Harlem Globetrotters game together.

Yenda was a sweet girl, now beautiful woman, who’s also a Stanford alum and just graduated from Harvard with her Master’s degree. Currently, she’s a family literacy specialist with Grail Family Services in San Jose, California. (Yenda’s profile is not online yet.)

Grail Family Services focuses on literacy, family programs, adult education, and empowerment. Yenda recently helped to create the Children’s Library which is the the first library in the local community serving families with young children.
