Richard Scarry Videos
I admit it: I’ve never heard of Richard Scarry. Well, not before my 1.5 year old son received the gift of two videos: Richard Scarry’s Best Sing-A-Long Mother Goose Video! and Richard Scarry’s Best Counting Video Ever!
My boy loves anything that has to do with numbers, so the counting video was an instant hit. He sits there, enamoured with Lily Bunny’s counting day adventures in Busy Town. The sing-a-long video was ignored for a while. But, slowly, my boy started enjoying Huckle Cat’s trip to find his friend Lowly Worm in Mother Gooseland.
Some nice things about these Richard Scarry videos are the simple, memorable songs, as well as the interesting characters that they feature. They’re educational and they don’t go on forever. Usually, the videos only last around 30 minutes.
They’re definitely a great addition to a child’s learning video library. And, I’m grateful to the friends who gave them to us and introduced the wonderful world of Richard Scarry to my boy (and me!).

We love them at our house too. We’ve also got the ABC’s one, and the Busy People one. somewhere in our boxes of books we have the big picture books too. My brothers and I really loved the picture books. I distinctly remember "Cars and Trucks and Things That Go" because it had a Pickle Car. lol!
