Star Wars, Episode III: Revenge of the Sith Released

by Hsien-Hsien Lei on November 2nd, 2005

Despite my best efforts, my three-year-old already loves Star Wars. We’ve been using various Star Wars vehicles and action figures as rewards for good behavior but it has made him into a monster.

“Want Star Wars surprise. Want Star Wars surprise,” he chants on a daily basis.

We haven’t indulged him in the way of the movies although he has seen Episode IV a few times and bits of V and VI. It may not be possible to shield him any longer, though, because his father’s a lifelong Star Wars fan. When my husband finally gets his hands on Episode III, Revenge of the Sith, there will be a Star Wars marathon at our house.

How old do you think kids should be before being allowed to watch all six episodes of Star Wars?

ETA: Here’s the Star Wars situation at Finslippy’s house.

When should they be allowed to watch? I think only a parent knows when a particular child is ready to see a movie.

We’ve let our kids watch Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Star Trek, Buffy, etc. -with us-. And I think that’s the key, them & us being together, watching together. We wouldn’t take the little ones to the theater to see such movies, but at home, where they can run about and ignore the show if they want to, is different. Plus, if they think something is scary, they can get hugs. :)

I still remember one of my little brothers having nightmares from the ScoobyDoo cartoons. He loved them, so he always watched, but then his brain would scare him at night. hehe.

Q, I also remember seeing ghost movies in pre-school. And to this day, I still hate horror flicks.
