Kids Like Customizable Toys and Gadgets
What’s hot with tweens and teens today? Anything that can be customized to suit their way of doing things and shows off their individuality. Cell phones with their own unique ring tones, MP3 players, and iPods are must-haves.
The 2005 Roper Youth Report found:
- Kids like to spend their money - about $10 to $30 a week - on candy, soda, clothes, CD’s, and video games.
- Digital music players and music/audio files are growing in popularity.
- Nearly one-third of teens and preteens participate in family decisions about cars, cell-phone service, cable providers, etc.
My toddler son already dictates much of what we spend our money on - DVD’s, toys, and books. I shudder to think what it’s going to be like in 10 years.
