Children’s Underwear
Oh, the happy day when my toddler began to wear underwear AND remembered to use the toilet instead of treating them as diapers. Now we have the task of finding fun, yet comfortable underpants. No luck yet.
The sizing on Hanes underpants must be off because even though my son is on the small side, the age-appropriate size was much too tight. He especially disliked the boxer briefs. The most comfortable underwear he has are the ones made locally here in Vietnam, with patterns ranging from Spongebob Squarepants to red chili peppers. Now I’m on the hunt to stock up before we move to London next month.
While my son couldn’t care less what design is on his underpants, some other kids we know will only wear Disney Princess underwear or have some other very specific requirements. My helper also told me that children don’t wear underwear in (southern) Vietnam because it’s too hot. And in some Asian cultures, boys aren’t allowed wear underwear at all for fear of negatively affecting future fertility.
What kind of underwear do your kids wear?

My son is 2 1/2. He has some underwear that he LOVES to wear. One is Spongebob, one is Bob the Builder, another is Scooby Doo and a fourth is Tiger. He calls them all “Bob”.
When he is dry at night, he is allowed to wear “Bob” during the next day. Otherwise, he gets the plain old ordinary tighty whitey underpants.
At Thanksgiving when I asked each of our children what they were thankful for, I got a lot of “I don’t know”s. When I asked him, he brightly and cheerfully said, “Bob!”
He hates diapers and loves his Bobs. Hopefully, he’ll be past this nighttime wetting (which, to be honest, is only about once every 3-4 nights).

Ben, Thanks for the comment! Your son sounds so cute! May there be more Bobs in his future. ;)

My oldest hit a milestone in underpants a couple sizes back when he got too big for fun character briefs. My pre-schooler is at the stage where he likes the idea of big-boy underpants, but could care less about using the toilet. He’s wearing Huggies pull-ups (because that brand has the sides that peel open as opposed to the Pampers which require an act of God to get off in case of icky diaper situations)
I’m looking forward to the day when there are no more diapers or pullups in my house!!

Deb: I didn’t know they ever outgrew those character briefs! I know my husband still likes them. HAHA!!!

I am a grandmother and my darling grandson told me that he “really needs” football underwear and t-shirts. Does anyone know where I can find size 4 underwear with football designs? Thanks. Joanne
