Children’s Books for Every Occasion: Chinese New Year

by Hsien-Hsien Lei on December 30th, 2005

Chinese New Year 2006 is on January 29. This coming year will be the year of the dog.

The dog is associated with benevolence and good fortune. There is a Chinese proverb that says if a strange dog follows you home, your house will be blessed with prosperity.

The Chinese New Year tradition is thousands of years old. Sharing it with your children whether you’re Chinese or not would be a wonderful history lesson filled with good fortune.
