Harry Potter Protects Kids
On the weekends after the last two most recent Harry Potter books were released, the number of emergency room visits made by children aged 7 to 15 decreased by almost half. So some have concluded that “Harry Potter books seem to protect children from traumatic injuries.”
Maybe if they used the book to fend off blows, concoct protective potions, or devise suit-of-armor magic spells.* But what do I know? The study was published in the British Medical Journal.
…there is a place for a committee of safety conscious, talented writers who could produce high quality books for the purpose of injury prevention.
Potential problems with this project would include an unpredictable increase in childhood obesity, rickets, and loss of cardiovascular fitness, they conclude.
*The obvious explanation aside - kids are simply staying in to devour the Harry Potter books.

Hm, I’m with you on the kids simply staying indoors to devour the latest book; rather than anything *in* the book, or some magical protective shield emanating from the book. hehehe

Deb: I have a magic wand that protects my child. Do you have one too? ;)
Rhys: And that’s all it is! hehe
