Children’s Books for Every Occasion: Dinnertime
The “experts” recommend that all families have dinner together. With my husband’s work schedule, though, we’re unable to do that more than once a week at most.
In any case, dinnertime with a toddler is hardly a civilized affair. He’s very much like Frog in this classic tale by Mercer Mayer. The card catalog description:
Having stowed away in a pocket, Frog wreaks havoc and creates disgrace for the family at the posh restaurant where they are having dinner.

It’s not the dinner itself, it’s the family cohesion. If schedules can’t permit dinner, they can probably permit a nice family breakfast or lunch or what have you. In other words, it’s not the food or the time of day, but the regular coming together to eat and build relationships, reestablish connections.

Hey there!
My dad was only able to eat with us one day a week . . . We were really close. He thought the sun rose and set on my head and I know that he hung the moon. Those experts don’t know everything. :)
