World Book Day 2006

by Hsien-Hsien Lei on March 2nd, 2006

Today’s the big day! It’s World Book Day 2006 in the UK and Ireland! In celebration,

  • Students are receiving school packs and World Book Day £1 Book Tokens
  • Six special World Book Day £1 Books are available
  • Competitions are being held
  • Authors will be visiting
  • Public libraries are hosting a live international reading group

After nursery school this morning, my son and I will be heading down to our local high street to have a special World Book Day lunch followed by a visit to the bookstore. I have a sneaking suspicion we’ll be picking up this book on being astronaut for a day.

Have you got anything special planned for World Book Day?

Not a thing. Didn’t even know this was the day. I think I have a book somewhere in the house. Perhaps I’ll read it.

Maybe I’ll spend some me-time reading another chapter or three of my “I still?! haven’t finished reading this!?” book in honor of the day. I’ve already done some stitching on “Frederick the Literate”, so it’s been a book-themed day even if it hasn’t been a book day.

Dr. John: I hope you found your book and had a moment to read it!

Deb: I’ve been busy catching up on work so haven’t had any time to read. Not having internet at home was good for something, including my eyes! Reading books, papers, and magazines doesn’t seem to strain them so much.
