Toy Shopping
Having just moved to London, we were pleased to find that Toys R Us has a store about 20 minutes away from us by car. As we headed over this morning, my husband and I hoped we could find more Thunderbird toys for our son to complete his collection, a nice toy kitchen, and a new tricycle.
When we arrived, three-year-old S was immediately excited about seeing a toy store. He can’t read it but he recognizes the Toys R Us sign with its giraffe mascot. Once inside the bright, noisy, and over-crowded store, he wandered around in a daze. Nothing seemed to interest him including the items we had come to get. And disappointingly, although there was a large display for Thunderbirds, they didn’t have any more of the toys left.
In the end, we left with nothing. It was clearly an example of too much choice overwhelming and turning us off. Hamley’s, London’s most famous toy store, may be a better choice simply because they have more floor models for kids to play with. Toys R Us also tends to have more of a warehouse feel whereas Hamley’s is a more welcoming store.
Not like we should even be shopping for more toys.

With money to spend, I can always buy something at ToysRUs. LOL. They have Legos and puzzles and more importantly, chocolate in their candy area. :D

deb: I thought I’d be the same but I wasn’t! Perhaps I’ve just gotten too used to shopping online.
