Healthy Snacks for Playing Energy
To play happily, kids need fuel. Dietician Leslie Beck recommends snacks between breakfast and lunch, and between lunch and dinner.
- Fruit and nut butter
- Trail mix
- Mini pita pockets with hummus
- Hummus and raw vegetables
- Baked tortilla chips and bean dip
- Fruit smoothie
- Fresh fruit and yogurt
- Low fat granola bars
- Bowl of whole-grain cereal and milk
- Instant bean-soup cups
As much as I love these snacks myself, I doubt I could get my toddler to eat any except the fruit and yogurt.
What do you give your kids for snack?

Mack loves peanut butter and apples, jam and crackers, popcorn or carrot sticks for snack. Of course, I’m pretty lucky in that his favorite veggie is broccoli, and the kid has a very limed sweet tooth.

Jenmcd: Good for him! We all have more than on sweet tooth in this house. :(

Not quite the things that will appeal to the asian palate. I am happy with just fruits (and variation of fruits).

We used Cheerios and raisins more than any other snacks, I think, and Tang to drink. Soft drinks were a rare treat and not normally in the house.

Parentingjoy: I can’t recall eating anything on that list when I was growing up! I think Asians tend to go more towards savory snacks?
Dirty Butter: Soft drinks were a treat in our house too when I was growing up. I still remember getting out the measuring cup to share a Coke with my sister. LOL
