Children’s Books for Every Occasion: Kindergarten

by Hsien-Hsien Lei on May 20th, 2006

My Kindergarten (Booklist Editor's Choice. Books for Youth (Awards))Every day after my son gets out of nursery school, we walk past the kindergarteners’ playground. He’ll be there in just a few months; moving from a half day of school to a full day. I am both sad and eager for him to start.

To help us transition, i’ll do my usual and will pick up a few books to talk over with him. My Kindergarten by Rosemary Wells is definitely going to be one of them.

From Booklist:

With Wells’ signature blend of tenderness, realism, and fun, this large picture book packs in a wealth of information, story, and playful rhyme about the first year of school. Much more than the usual short, welcoming introduction to the classroom, this is a detailed overview of things to learn and exciting goings-on, both at school and at home.>/blockquote>
