Children’s Clothing Prices

by Hsien-Hsien Lei on June 2nd, 2006

Almost all my son’s clothes are gifts from family and friends so, truth be told, I don’t really have an idea how much children’s clothing costs. But the few pieces I have priced shocked me because they often cost more than my own clothes!

In the UK, consumer group Which? is taking issue with the pricing of children’s football (soccer) jerseys for the upcoming World Cup.

The England team’s World Cup away kit was launched earlier this year, immediately sparking a price war amongst retailers.

Which? editor Neil Fowler said: “Retailers are taking advantage of consumers, and parents in particular, by charging almost as much for an England shirt to fit a small child as one that’s big enough to fit a 20-stone man.”

I kind of thought maybe I was just looking at some special limited edition items or that I just don’t have a good memory for prices. Now I know it wasn’t just my imagination.

1 opinion for Children’s Clothing Prices

Here in Germany, where the World Cup is going to be held, there is such a glut of souvenir merchandise, that the prices are super low. Only the Adidas stuff is expensive. T-shirts can be found for as little as 5 EURO. Of course, they will only last for the games themselves.
