Free or Discount Meals for Kids
Wondering where to take your kids for a meal in Kansas City? Scott of the Parental Olympian has compiled a list of restaurants in Kansas City with free or discount meals. He’s also inviting other parents to make similar lists for their cities.
In London, I recommend Giraffe, an eclectic family restaurant with reasonably priced world cuisine. The little plastic giraffe that comes with your drink is pretty darn cute too!

I just commented at Scott’s blog too, but is free or discounted food for kids really worth it? I’ve noticed most children’s menu fare is just awful and I am not the only one.
Take a look at this article in the Scotsman.

Kate: Depends on the purpose of going out, I guess. A change of atmosphere is nice but I agree most children’s menus are disgusting. Even at our “healthy” restaurant that we go to 3x a month, it’s definitely healthy but tasteless! S gobbles it up, though, and likes the plastic giraffe stir thing that comes with his drink. :)

Hsien: Exactly. My daughter knows when we go out to eat and has fun with it. It is certainly a welcome change to get out of the house with her. She needs the change of scenery as much as we do. We do not go out often, but when we do a splurge is in order. It may not be the healthiest fare, but I do not think any of go out to eat to be healthy. :)

Our daughter is now eating “big people food”. So when we go out to eat, I just share a little on my plate and Greg shares a little from his. One of us makes sure we get a bigger meal than usual so that we all have plenty to eat. However, the rule is that she has to have her own plate. That and she likes water. So far, it doesn’t cost us a lot to take her out. Besides, her favorite meals are cheese and crackers.

Kelly: It is a lot easier for them to just eat what we eat. I’d guess that as they get older, they’ll like the novelty of having a kids meal and those little cheap trinkets that come with like a toy or a cute box or something. Luckily, my almost four-year-old is still not at the begging stage for one of these gimmicks.

Yeah. I am not into the kids meals. Although pretty soon she is going to have to get her own meal. Yesterday she ate a whole grilled cheese from Sonic.
