Food, Fun, Games and Goats
Today, the kids, grandma, my nephew and I all spent a beautiful summer afternoon at one of southwest Ohio’s best family attractions.
Young’s Jersey Dairy, located in Yellow Springs, OH (where, apparently, Dave Chappelle owns a farm. I don’t know exactly where, since I’ve never been invited over.) is a family-owned working dairy farm, and a great destination for a family outing.
What began as a purchase of a barn by a relative of the Young family in 1869 now includes a dairy, two restaurants, a mini-golf course (appropriately named Udders and Putters), a driving range, a corn maze, and more!
A favorite feature for the kids, second only to the bubble gum ice cream, is the goat pen. For a dime, you can buy a handful of goat feed, and the kid-friendly goats will gently eat from your hands. The kids also love the retired tractors that can be played on and “driven.” There are tires to climb, cows to pet, goofy cutouts to take funny pictures in, and, of course, delicious homemade ice cream.
It’s not just a summer destination, either. There are loads of beautiful pumpkins from which to choose your jack-o-lantern
in the autumn. And return at Christmas to cut your own tree from the tree farm!
It truly is year-round fun for you and your kids at Young’s. Make sure you stop by if you’re traveling our way!

*g* Anyone who hasn’t experienced the fun of a more rural entertainment is in for a treat with a place like that! I wish we had something similar here. Ohio is just too far to drive for treats. :(

Hsien: How I wish you could join us for outings. We’d have so much fun!!!
Deb: It is amazing, in this day and age, to be able to take the kids to see where their milk and ice cream actually comes from. I think it’s a connection to the land that we’re slowly losing. Do you have any opportunities to experience that around you?
