Old School Model Airplanes
Children’s love of computers and television is partly to blame for the demise of Airfix, a company making a variety of models from warships to planes. Begun in 1939, Airfix models were at the height of their popularity in the mid to late 1960’s.
Thirteen-year-old Matt disagrees with the assumption that there’s no room for model-building in children’s lives today.
The fact that some children spend time on the Computer or Games Consoles has nothing to do with the fall of the Airfix Company.
I have a Computer and 4 Games Consoles and yet I still have managed to make close to 100 models (ALL Airfix!).
Darn right. There is a time and place for every toy and if models are your hobby of choice, never fear. there are plenty of other companies that make them.
