Teaching Children Spanish

by Hsien-Hsien Lei on September 12th, 2006

Beth Manners' Fun Spanish for Kids: ages 2-6Reader Jen would like to learn Spanish with her son, who’s in elementary school.

I figured for home we could get one of those audio courses to learn Spanish together. (Spanish would be the logical choice, with the large percentage of Hispanic residents in the area.) Can you recommend a good set/series that works well for children? CDs that have accompanying books or flash cards would work, but for now we’d like to start with some basic audio.

Considering that I’m struggling with teaching my pre-schooler our cultural language of Mandarin Chinese, I’m hardly one to ask. I found Beth Manners’ Fun Spanish for Kids: ages 2-6 on Amazon which got good reviews, but I thought I’d turn to knowledgeable Play Library readers to help us out as well.

What DVD’s, books, CD’s, websites, or computer games would you recommend for teaching kids Spanish?
