Learning Lessons with Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle
My daughter’s schooling is including more and more of the books I used to love to read as a kid. Whenever a new one comes up, I get so excited because I remember how much joy I got out of journeying through the stories.
What cracks me up is how little I actually remember of the stories themselves. Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle by Betty MacDonald is one of those books. I remember liking the story, I remember that there was an older lady in it who the kids all adored, and that’s probably about it. Reading it again, with my daughter, I’m appreciating all of the lessons that can be taught to little ones paying attention to the stories. We even get to bring those lessons into reality when my oldest is practicing one of the ill behaviors that elicit one of Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle’s cures. It brings the messages to life for her in ways that are fun.
I didn’t know that there were Mrs. Piggle Wiggle movies made based on the books. How about you? Have any of you seen them?

It is a fun one. We read “The Radish Cure” chapter today. Very clever.
