Intelligence and Child’s Play
Play Library is more important than I (and probably you) thought! A new study published in The Lancet (registration required) has shown that malnourished preschoolers can still gain great benefits from playing with toys.
Prof. Sally McGregor of the Institute of Child Health at University College London:
We have done play programs in Bangladesh where the children are severely malnourished and we have produced up to a nine-point improvement in the IQ of these kids — just with play.
There is a lot of ignorance about what a child needs — they think that play is not for adults and they don’t understand that they can improve the child’s development.
So what are you waiting for? Get out there and buy some more toys today! ;)
