Help Name A New Toy!

by Hsien-Hsien Lei on January 18th, 2007

puggle

Play Library has met its first toy designer, Emma Patterson! She visited us this week asking for help naming her toy which helps teach kids number and alphabet sequence in addition to patience. Children push the “spikes” in and can cuddle them when they’ve done that. The toy was originally named Puggle after baby spiny anteaters (echidnas) found in Australia.

Emma said:

Although the design is still in concept stage I have tested its games (in a less engaging environment than on the back of a cute hedgehog) with three and four year olds, and most do have the ambition and patience to complete the games (voluntarily and without the pressure of an observer), especially after witnessing a light and sound reward upon completion of an exercise.

I got the name ‘puggle’ from baby echidna but due to trademarking am looking for a new name. I was wondering Hsien-Hsien Lei if you have any ideas as to what I could call my toy…?

Can you help Emma name her new toy? I’ll ask my resident toy expert when he comes home from school.

Update: My son suggests “Spiky Harry.”
