Me and My Magic Paintbrush
If you’ve ever wondered how to pronounce my name, Hsien, read The Magic Paintbrush by Julia Donaldson and Joel Stewart. This also happens to be the book I’ll be taking to my son’s school for their week-long Readathon later this month. I’m hoping it will give them a flavor of traditional Chinese culture.
From the Amazon book description:
Everything Shen paints with her magic brush becomes real - she paints food for the hungry and clothes for the needy. Soon whispers of her magic brush reach a greedy emperor who orders Shen to paint him a tree of gold. But Shen’s integrity and resourcefulness, along with her magic brush, prove more than a match for the emperor.

Oh! That sounds like a lovely book. What a generous fantasy.
