Product Recall: Easy-Bake Ovens
This just in. Easy-Bake Ovens are being recalled because “young children can insert their hands into the oven’s opening and get their hands or fingers caught, posing an entrapment and burn hazard.” Easy-Bake has already received 29 injury reports, which include five children who’ve been burned.
Consumers should contact Easy-Bake between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. ET 7 days a week to receive a free retrofit kit with consumer warning. Caregivers should keep the Easy Bake Oven away from children under eight years of age.
Hasbro has a recall form you can fill out to request the free retrofit kit.
We don’t have an Easy-Bake Oven so I’m not sure how hazardous they really are but I just don’t think it would be a toy that you could leave your child to play with unattended. So the token retrofit kit with accompanying warning is prudent but shouldn’t be needed if children are properly supervised. Do you have an Easy-Bake Oven? How dangerous is it?

Thanks. We were going to have to look that up. The kids got one for Christmas. Since they are only four we would never let them use it if we were not helping them, but we always though it looked a little dangerous to pokey fingers.
