Toys for Children After Surgery
If I had a magic wand, I’d wave it over the world and make everyone immune to disease. But since I can’t, it’s inevitable that some, including children, will need serious medical care. Over at A Hearty Life, I’ve written about toys and games for children recovering from heart surgery. If you can suggest others, I’d be most grateful!

It’s not a toy, but there’s a great children’s story book by David Saltzman, called “The Jester Has Lost His Jingle.” I’d recommend it for ages 5-8 (it’s wordy). But it’s a great story about a jester who goes all over the world looking for laughter. The author passed away from Hodgkens at the age of 23, but writing the book was part of how he coped with his own illness, and his mother published it after his death. There’s also a website for it here - http://www.thejester.org/
