Webkinz Toys Banned at School
One of my pet peeves is children bringing toys to school. It just shouldn’t be allowed. Period. There’s the problem of the toy getting lost or broken causing the owner much grief. And then there’s the inevitable fighting over the toy itself when the owner only wants to share with her friends or maybe not with anyone at all. The worst part about allowing kids to bring toys to school are the feelings of greed, envy, and “I want” that the toy elicits in other children (and some parents too).
Jack Jackter Intermediate School in Colchester, CT recently banned Webkinz. Parent Patty Kozlowski:
Within a week’s time, that was the talk of the school — everybody had a Webkinz and everybody needed one.
What did I tell ya? Here are some other toys that are not allowed in schools across the country. I’m surprised there isn’t a blanket ban in effect but maybe I’m too strict.

I think it’s sad that the school had to resort to banning them. Why not use them as a teaching tool?

I think banning webkinz is the most obsurd, stupidest thing I have ever heard!!!!!!! I think that kids need toys for their chill zone so they can have their time , and I really don’t like people or schools that don’t give kids a little time in their chill zone. Kids need time so whatever , but whoever banned webkinz made the biggest mistake they ever made in their carrier! So if they did read this and understand!!!!!!!!

I have a fifteen year old daughter who has one, and she’s not ashamed in the least! never once have i needed to throw one out into the wheelie bin. there’s no problem with webkinz at all!!!

this is crazy! my daycare bans everything possible. pokemon, harrypotter , nick magizine, and webkinz or clubpenguin. no disney channel, (magic stuff), amd only G rated movies! im not even allowed to draw the easter bunny or santa for gods sake!!!! people need to realize that not everything is inapropret. i got an F because they wouldnt let me read the Killing Sea. and if we tell stories about faries or makebelive on the play ground, we have to go inside or sit out. im tired of this crap! people need to tell them off. we are not living in fairy tale land!!!!! we are going to find out obout this stuff! who agrees?

This is so stupid. Children are children. You can’t make a child honestly act like a serious uppercut student. This is the one time in their life they learn key moral values such as sharing, how to deal with jealousy, and responsibility. How is it different than a playmate over at the child’s house breaking the toy? Same principle. I think that the toys/electronics should be fine at school as long as they are not out during instructional time, because we all know that when kids are told they can’t do something, they are going to do it anyways.

As you can tell I am a webkinz fan. However I believe there is a place for everything. School is for school and it is a good idea for the kids to keep their toys including their amazing webkinz at home
If you say they can bring the webkinz to school, then the same should apply to every toy and computer game, which is the recipe for chaos
The kids have to start learning discipline at some stage and having to leave their webkinz plush toy at home is not too difficult a place to start
