Math Matters: Count on Pablo
We missed our storytime at the library yesterday, being that it was a holiday and all, so we had our own little storytime at home today (not an uncommon occurrence).
One of the books that the kids brought out was Count on Pablo from the Math Matters Series. I can’t say that I’m even sure who bought it for them, but we all really liked it! It was a fun story, and integral to the story were examples of problem solving skills and math issues.
From the back cover:
MATH MATTERS helps children make the connection between the math they are learning in school and their everyday world.
EACH STORY:
*focuses on a single math concept
*shows how kids use math in real-life situations
*supports and extends reading skills
*can be enjoyed by independent readers and read aloud to younger children
I think these are a fun option for parents and caretakers who are trying to introduce and encourage young readers in practicing their math skills. The books are also available in Spanish.
