Over 9 Million Toys Recalled by Mattel
And I thought the recall coming in a week and a half ago was huge at about 700,000 toys. Now NBC is reporting that over 9 million toys are being recalled. The toys are made by Mattel in China and the concerns, as before, are lead paint and small magnetic parts.
You can find the entire list posted by NBC of recalled toys by clicking here. One of the doctors featured in the piece recommends testing any child for lead exposure who has played with any of these toys for a month or more. They say that there is a simple blood test that can be ordered by your child’s pediatrician if need be.

Funny, one used to be able to trust companies like Fisher Price and Mattel. I guess it just goes to show you that companies that sell out their workers for cheap slave labour will sell out your children’s safety.

I have been trying to find lead testing kits locally and have had to resort to the internet (don’t know if this is because they aren’t carried in stores, or if there has been a run on them). I do know that I am not the only one of my group of peers that is testing what toys remain to ensure that what toys have been left after toy recall inventory check are as safe as we are lead to believe (no pun intended).
Will the toy recalls be effective?
