Pool Toys Recalled Because of Risk of Laceration

by Julie on November 7th, 2007

skippy-pool-toy.jpgYes, another recall but it has nothing to do with lead believe it or not.

About 31,000 children’s pool toys have been recalled because of risk of laceration.

Swimways Corp., of Virginia Beach, Va., is recalling Skippy pool toys (pictured here) because the elastic tongue of the fish can break, come out forcefully and cut the users’ hands during launching of the toy.

Swimways has received 24 reports of the pool toy breaking during use. There were five reports of injuries to children, including one requiring stitches to a child’s hand. Another child’s thumb nail was ripped back from the nail bed.

The toys were sold from February 2007 to September 2007 nationwide. If you have one of these, contact Swimways at (888) 559-4653 or online at swimways.com for a free replacement toy.

I was just looking at a video on ExpoTV.com about safe toys to give kids for the holidays and then I came across this and I just find that really, well.. ironic/funny? It’s amazing to me how prevalent dangerous toys are. Anyway, check out this video for some tips on safe toys!: http://www.expotv.com/holiday/survival/Survival-Tips/220/198561

[…] We have a couple of these that my daughter made at a birthday party. We don’t actually have the toy, but we do have a cute little dog and kitty. I got rid of them immediately. I am just getting SO sick of these toy recalls. I feel like I blog about them everyday. […]
