Lights of the South in Grovetown, Georgia
Last night our whole family went with my son’s gymnastics team to a place called Lights of the South. It was so much fun and very cold too. I didn’t take any pictures because my camera has been acting up, but my fingers were too frozen to operate it anyway. I’ve added a couple of pictures here that they have on their website, but it definitely doesn’t do the up close and personal experience justice.
What is Lights of the South? Well, there is so much to do! We started out on the main attraction, which is the hayride through the lights display. They have thousands and thousands of lights. The Santa castle pictured above is adorned with 60,000 lights! Their are other light displays like a rainbow and Christmas trees and you’ll also spot characters like Spongebob, Cinderella, Spiderman and many many other characters. All the kids (and adults) were shouting “Look it’s Snow White, Batman and Tom Sawyer!” It was a really fun hayride and it’s something that both kids and adults can enjoy together.
After you are done with the hayride there is a little gingerbread house to climb through, Cinderellas’s carriage and also a snack shop where you can purchase everything from hot chocolate, hot dogs and hamburgers. But the main attraction when it comes to the food are the marshmallows. They have a great big fire pit where everyone roasts their marshmallows. It’s also a great place to warm up!
On your way out you can visit Santa and get your picture taken. It really was a wonderful family outing and we all just had a blast. If there is something similar to this in your community, go check it out. You can’t pass through the holiday season without seeing some Christmas lights and roasting a marshmallow. Unless you live in Hawaii or the Caribbean, lol!
The main thing is to just get out and enjoy being a family by having some fun together. Our kids were still talking about it this morning. It was just a fun experience.
