Da Vinci Inspired RC Toy

by Julie on January 10th, 2008

Take a look at this! It’s a Da Vinci inspired RC toy which looks truly amazing. This is from Interactive Toy Concepts and it’s called the Micro Aerial Vehicle (MAV) Ornithopter and is based on Leonardo Da Vinci’s famous designs. Its wingspan is less than 5" and has a rechargeable lithium polymer battery. Charge the battery for five minutes and you can enjoy 7 minutes of flying time.

I don’t believe I have ever seen an RC toy this tiny. I would love to see this thing in action. You know how long this toy would last in my house? It wouldn’t even make it through the 7 minutes of flying time. An air hog helicopter that my son received for Christmas lasted a total of an hour. We’re getting it fixed though. :D

Am a long time modelmaker and hobbyist. I go back to times when we used to build our own stick and tissue balsawood rubber powered airplanes etc… My first RC system would be ridiculous in size compared to today’s micro jewels. Young chaps do not really appreciate how far we’ve gone in just 25 years..I definitely encourage more R&D in micro RC , it’s fascinating and very helpful in several scientific and rescue work fields..Tx. Toto..from Beirut, Lebanon.

Toto, I agree. There is so much that children (and adults) can learn from these toys!
