A Valentine Party for Pre-Schoolers

by Julie on February 12th, 2008

Another mom and I are in charge of the Valentine’s Party at my four year old’s school. I love planning parties for kids and they can be a lot of fun.

When it comes to planning a party for a classroom full of 4 year olds, simplicity is the key. So we have planned a fun, yet simple Valentine’s party for the kids. Here’s what we’re going to do:

The Crafts

loving-hands-valentine-craft The first craft we are doing is called the Loving Hands Valentine from the Family Fun website.

We are going to have them make these for either their mom or another special person in their family. I love any kids craft that involves tracing their hand or foot or incorporating a picture of them into it. It just makes it more special.

As you can see, on the front of this card are their little hands with a heart in the middle. We will let them decorate the inside of the card, with a little note that’s already written inside. This is one of those cards that is definitely a keep sake.

You can read the instructions and supplies list over at Family Fun.

This is the Valentine Puppet Paper Bag Craft Kit. The kit comes with paper bags and foam stickers. All the kids have to do is peel the paper off of the foam stickers and stick them on the bag. They can make all kids of cute little animals like a dog, rabbit, elephant, bear or giraffe. Too cute!

The Food

We are going super easy with the food this year and are buying Valentine’s Day cup cakes, Chick Fil A chicken platter, chips, and drinks. Nice and easy and I don’t know a kid who doesn’t like chicken and cup cakes. :D

The Goody Bags

lollipop-mice-craft For the goody bags I am making these little Lollipop Mice, which are super easy to make and the kids will love them.

I’ll put these in a Valentine bag along with some candy hearts and other little Valentine candy.

Kids love to receive goody bags and I think they’ll enjoy these.

We only have about 45 minutes for the party, so we won’t be playing any games. A couple of crafts, eating lunch and exchanging Valentine’s should fill up our time quite nicely.

I’ll let you know how it goes!
