WHAM-O Slip ‘N Slide Mega Shark - Review

by Susan Gunelius on June 17th, 2008

WHAM-O Slip n slide mega shark I have one more toy to review from WHAM-O as part of the WHAM-O 60th Anniversary - the WHAM-O Slip ‘N Slide Mega Shark.

The WHAM-O Slip ‘N Slide Mega Shark is slightly different than most Slip ‘N Slides because a huge shark’s mouth is located at the end of the Slip ‘N Slide that chomps down on children periodically as they slide through.  As the shark’s mouth opens and closes, water sprays out of the top of it’s mouth.  Children have to try to time their slides to get through the shark’s mouth without getting caught in his teeth!

My 3-year old triplets loved the shark feature and thought it was hilarious when they got caught in the shark’s teeth.  The age range on the WHAM-O Slip ‘N Slide Mega Shark is 5-12, but I have to say, I think older children would probably prefer a more traditional Slip ‘N Slide without the shark feature because the shark does tend to get in the way of the biggest and fastest slides.

As with most Slip ‘N Slides, I think the sliding area is a bit too narrow, and the sliding area never gets as wet as the picture shows on the box.  Aside from those complaints, the Slip ‘N Slide Mega Shark was a lot of fun for my kids.  Even with the shark attachment, set up and take down only took a few minutes.  We’ll definitely take this toy out again!

The WHAM-O Slip ‘N Slide Mega Shark is 20 feet long and retails for about $40, which seems a bit steep for what you get.  However, my kids did get a lot of laughs from it, so depending on your kids’ ages and how they like to use a Slip ‘N Slide, the WHAM-O Slip ‘N Slide Mega Shark might be a good choice.
