Win an Eye Can Art Sumi-e Painting Kit
PlayLibrary is holding another contest as part of the Bloggy Giveaways that will run until Friday, August 1, 2008. I’m giving away ONE Eye Can Art Sumi-e Painting Kit - winner of a 2008 Parents Choice Award.
The Japanese-style Brush Painting Sumi-e Kit from Eye Can Art comes in a cool can that includes everything you need to make art projects in the style of sumi-e artists. The kit is intended for children (and adults) ages 8 and up and contains:
- Two wood frames
- Black liquid watercolor
- Sponge
- Sumi-e paper
- Bamboo brush
- Foam chop
- Wood block
- Printing ink
- Black mounting paper
- Adhesive dots
- Instructions
Here’s how to enter into the contest for a chance to win a Eye Can Art Sumi-e Kit:
- Leave a comment on this post before 11:59pm Friday, August 1st (Eastern Time). One comment per email address please. U.S. residents only.
- Each comment will be entered into a drawing, and ONE winner will be selected randomly from those entries.
- The winner will be contacted via email, so please be sure you leave a valid email address in your comment. Please leave your email address in the box under your name instead of in the comment section.
- The winner will be notified on August 2nd. If the winner does not respond with his or her mailing address within 72 hours of the notification email being sent, he or she forfeits the prize and an alternate winner will be selected (same guidelines apply). The winner’s contact information will be provided to a representative from Eye Can Art, who will coordinate the prize shipment. Once a prize is claimed, the winner will be announced on PlayLibrary.
This is a really cool prize for girls or boys. Good luck!

As an artist and a Japanophile, I’ve wanted to learn sumi-e for ages. But the quality sumi-e inks can cost as much as $80, and deer-hair brushes aren’t cheap either,so it’s intimidating.
Maybe if I tried this project with my 10 year old, I’d learn the basics along with her and be confident enough to buy the grown up expensive sumi-e supplies.
It would be an educational experience for both of us.
