A few ideas from Tree Hugging Family

So, I mentioned awhile back that, as a family, we’re trying to think and act a bit more eco-friendly in our home. We’ve made some big strides in composting and recycling, and a bit better in just buying less stuff (never a bad thing, I think!). The kids love helping to figure out […]

Will the toy recalls be effective?

With the recent recalls of many of our favorite toys still causing a stir, I’m beginning to wonder how effective these recalls will actually prove to be. Obviously, I’m not the only one. An article by E. Marla Felcher points to a major issue, I believe:

The reason so many toys were recalled […]

PsychoBaby

Okay, so, I’m making my way through the sites that Jennifer mentioned in the comments here, and I started with PsychoBaby and it made me laugh. Okay, the site itself didn’t make me laugh (though some of the products were cracking me up). But I started laughing because it reminded me of a […]

Shrinky Dinks

I’m not sure how we didn’t get mom to get us Shrinky Dinks when we were young, because I remember hearing about them and thinking they sounded like so much fun to do! I believe I was an adult before I actually witnessed the shrinking, curling, melting action of the product. […]

Over 9 Million Toys Recalled by Mattel

And I thought the recall coming in a week and a half ago was huge at about 700,000 toys. Now NBC is reporting that over 9 million toys are being recalled. The toys are made by Mattel in China and the concerns, as before, are lead paint and small magnetic parts.
You […]

Toy Storage: Are Lego taking over the living room?

What was your house like growing up? Was every room in the house fair game for kids’ toys, books and puzzles? Was the living room mascot more likely to be identified as Strawberry Shortcake or G.I. Joe than Hummel or Lenox?
I’m really surprised anymore at how many times I hear of houses […]

80’s Micro Machines Commercial

Check out the crazy fast speech of speed talker John Moschitta, Jr. in this 80’s commercial for Micro Machines.

I actually do remember his FedEx commercial from my younger days. It’s pretty remarkable to watch the countdown timer and to realize how many scenes they fit into that 56 seconds! It’s always interesting to […]
